TGIF is  a Friday meme hosted by Ginger at Greads. She always has the best questions.

Today’s Question:

Reading Blues: We all get them from time to time. What helps you overcome those reading slumps when nothing seems to grab your attention?

Answer:
I quit blogging for awhile. Most of the time when I’m in a reading slump it’s not because of reading it’s because of the “musts”. I must read this, I must review that, I must. When it becomes all musts and no wants I get a bit discouraged and just don’t feel like reading. When I take a break I often read off of my usual genre which also helps.

I'm a wife, student, and a dog-lover who reads when I should be folding laundry (bane of my existance), I write (rarely as academic papers consume my life), and love getting wrapped up in fiction.

  1. Yeah, it does get hard to blog and still enjoy everything you read. Thanks for stopping by,

  2. I have to admit the "musts" is why I don't accept review copies. It's nice to have the latest books to read, but the deadlines would drive me crazy.

  3. Good point!!  I squirm when I feel I "gotta" do anything from reading to blogging to laundry.  :-D

  5. yes, sometimes all those review copies can get a bit much. I like to take a break occasionally and read some old favourites or a book that i purchased. Love your blog :)

  6. Rie I totally have the same issue with the must.  Especially, the 500 plus page musts.
