This week's question:
If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? Why and to what?
Answer:
I hate spoilers (if it’s not about shows) so I’ll be vague.
Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins
This book has the biggest cliffhanger I’ve ever read. It basically stops in the middle of a paragraph. I think it’s one of the cheapest gimmicks on earth to do this, but this series is just SO addicting.

This week’s question:
Making a Difference: Which book(s) would you put in the hands of today's teenagers in hopes of making a difference in their lives?
Answer:
I’m going to do a top 3, because so many books helped me survive my teen years and this could get so long.
Anne Frank- This book has both a girl that can be an anti-hero at times and show true courage at others.
Speak- This book helped me in ways I cannot explain. So good.
Night- This book made me cry in a classroom full of my peers, but I needed the pure determination this book has.
Okay, so my top 3 have a Jewish theme, huh?
I was a holocaust history junkie as a teen. My ancestry is German-Russian Jew, so it was part of me and had my ancestors not migrated we would have been part of this. Also high school was a time of feeling like an outcast so read such stories of human survival gave me courage.

I don't think I ever got to finish Anne Frank, mainly but I can see where you're coming from. As a girl, she had to show tremendous courage especially once she knew the end was coming.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Anne Frank thats an awesome choice!

Great books. Most of those are taught in school. That's a good thing.

Your answer to the TGIF question is awesome. I find it super great that the three books that made the biggest impact on you have a theme that relates to your heritage. Great picks.
ReplyDeleteHopping through. Demonglass was a huge cliffhanger. I rather liked it. Hard to wait for the next one though.
ReplyDeleteOh I haven't had time to pick up this series yet. But thanks for the warning :)
ReplyDeleteI agree wholeheartedly with Speak!!

I normally HATE cliff hangers. If handled well they can be a great device but some authors really overuse them. (see my FF for more details)

Anne Frank is a perfect one! I don't know what else I would suggest, to be honest.
