Read all the way through for a surprise.
First, if you need an graphic editing software. I suggest the freeware Paint.net.
Next find an image you want to use. If you are wanting to use an image off your site and don’t currently have it saved on your hard drive, hit Crtl+Prt Sc this will take a snapshot of your background.
If you don’t have an image you want to use I suggest stock exchange. It has free royalty free images.
Now you have your image from whatever source. You need to resize it to the dimensions you want it. A good way to find out what size image you need is to open template designer and find out the width of the sidebar in which you are planning to put the grab button. Or download the extension (Opera-Omeasure, Google Chrome and Firefox (MeasureIt) these simple extension allows you to see what the dimensions of anything online. I’m quite in love with it.
Now resize the image to those dimensions. If it is an image that can be distorted make sure you have maintain aspect ratio checked.
Add in any else you’d like: A background color, words, anything. Play with it.
If you need a different font try dafont.
If you want a background image try Digiscrap Depot’s freebie papers.
When you’ve made a brilliant button upload it to either photobucket or flicker. Copy the direct link code and post it into this code where it says Image URL in blue.
<center><a href="Link to" target="_blank" title="Name of Site"><img alt="Name of site" src="Image URL"/></a> <center>
</center>
<center><textarea id="code-source" rows="3" cols="13" name="code-source"><center><a href="Link to"><img border="0" src="Image URL"/></a></center></textarea></center></center>
Put your url in the red link to.
In the purple, Name of Site, put the name of your blog. Such as Mission to Read.
You now have a grabby button.
I will be designing (2) buttons for fellow book bloggers. Simply fill out the form.
