I decided to set up a mini reading challenge as I’m seeing some resistance to books such as Huntress by Malinda Lo and Witch Eyes by Scott Tracey. Plus, there simply should be more LGBT fiction in novels.
For a book to be applicable for this challenge the protag needs to be the one that is LGBT, not the far off friend.
Gay teens have had more of a place in television lately, but sadly I don’t see this as much in fiction. I love this post about the issue. Also this blog might be helpful in finding great books etc.
So the challenge is this:
Obsessed: 6 books
Supporter: 3 books
Just Curious: 1 book
How to join:
1) Make a post saying you are joining.
I’ll also set up a page where you can link individual reviews, if you’d like not required.
Giveaway:
I’ll be hosting a giveaway in June for those who have joined and read and reviewed (doesn’t have to be on your own blog can be at goodreads, amazon, or even guest post for me) at least one book towards their goal.
Deadline:
Anyone wanting to join in can do so until August 1st, 2011.
List of applicable books:
If you can think of any others please mention them in the comments and I’ll add them to the list.

Awesome idea Rie! I will probably sign up for this later. I loved Huntress and it makes me sad that people would hate on it just because it has a lesbian couple.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention that another good title would be I Am J by Cris Beam.
ReplyDeleteI am in! I don't know what you define paranormal as for this but what about Hero by Perry Moore?? Protagonist is a gay superhero. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI Am J is an awesome book, but it is not paranormal. Hero, though, would be a better fit.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a blog. Can I still join? I read quite a bit of adult GLBT literature/novels/romance. Haven't realized there is YA novels available.
ReplyDeleteSure can!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on having 1 of the most sophisticated blogs Ive arrive throughout in some time! Its just incredible how much you can take away from a little something simply because of how visually beautiful its. Youve put collectively a great blog space great graphics, videos, layout. This is unquestionably a must-see blog!
ReplyDeleteWhere do we post our links to reviews? I just finished Huntress and loved it (which is not how I felt about Ash - odd).
ReplyDeleteSimply link it in the sign up page.
ReplyDeleteThis is so great. I want to join but I'm going to look into books first and then make my post on my blog :o)
