This week's question:
Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).
Answer:
The answer to this question has changed throughout my life.
In second grade I began reading by reading the Boxcar series. I’m dyslexic, so this was quite the feat, but once I started I was hooked! Both to the series and to reading.
ETA: I just realized the wording on this sounds arrogant. What I meant was it was quite a struggle to get to the point where I could read a book so it was a personal feat.

The book that I would say influenced my pre-teen years is Anne Frank. I read this book repeatedly between 4th grade and 6th.
Speak was probably the most powerful book of my teens.
And while books affect me still, I haven’t found one that has a huge influence over my adult life.
“What is the one ARC you would love to get your hands on right now?”
Answer:
Legend by Marie Lu.
I’m not requesting any physical ARC’s until I get moved, but this one I can’t wait to read!
This week’s question:
Which books have effected you on a personal level and lingered in your mind long after you closed the pages?
Answer:
Most recently it would be Num8ers by Rachel Ward.

Speak is a great book. I appreciate it a lot. I'm glad there are books out there like that. I don't know a lot about dyslexia. I just know that some people have a hard time with it and can't overcome it well enough to keep reading. It sounds like you've been able to do that, which as you said, is quite a feat from what I know about it.
ReplyDeleteCool pick! I hadn't heard of that series.

Hopping through. I loved the Boxcar Children books. They were some of the first books I read.
