TGIF is  a Friday meme hosted by Ginger at Greads. She always has the best questions.

Today’s Question:

A Book Blogger is Born: What made you decide to start your very own book blog?

Answer:

Mission to Read was born on December 24th, 2010. There were many contributing factors. When I got married I moved from a place filled with family that loved books and we’d fight over them and commiserate about them to a place where reading is seen as useless (but watching 14 hours of football is deemed worthy). I also stopped writing about this same time and while I knew I’d go back to writing once life just stopped being so insane I wanted to stay in the writerly world.

So basically I began book blogging for the community and oh the delightful community there is!

Rie
I'm a wife, student, and a dog-lover who reads when I should be folding laundry (bane of my existance), I write (rarely as academic papers consume my life), and love getting wrapped up in fiction.

  1. I like your answer :) I wish my family liked books, I felt like I've been pushing my little sister to get into books lol, it's kinda working!

  2. I can so relate about football! It totally consumes Sunday all day & Monday nights for the hubby - which is actually great, because that's a perfect time for me to get some reading in.

    1. When it's just Sunday and Monday night I can stand it, but when it's Thursday, Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday, and Monday evening I go a bit insane!

I do get some great reading in though!

  3. Yay!!! The blogging community is really made up of some of the greatest people I know! Also, so sorry about 14 hours of football. I couldn't do that!

  4. Yeah, non-bookaholics seem to be from another planet.
It's tough being around people that don't really share your love of books, somehow they end up looking down on your for reading while you're perfectly fine doing a TV series marathon with them, lol.
Sports though, that I couldn't do, watching sports is just...boring to me. Not saying people doing that are wasting time, but I'd be bored enough to poke my eyes out after 10 minutes, probably. Meh. :)

    1. Oh, I am the same. Sports bore me to the extreme within minutes, but the hubs loves them so!

Don't you hate the double standard? Also reading even fiction builds so many skills that I can't understand why people call it useless.

  5. I love so much all the people I met because of my passion for reading. You are all so great.
I wouldn't be able to watch sports, not for a second, not in this lifetime, LOL!

    Happy midnight reading!
