TGIF is  a Friday meme hosted by Ginger at Greads. She always has the best questions.

Today’s Question:

Book Series Finales: Which book, from any series has been your favorite ending? What about your least favorite ending?

Answer:
The best ending would have to be the ending of the Hunger Games series. Real or not real gets me every single time. The quality of the books stayed amazing from the very first book until the very end. I don’t want to spoil the ending for any of the people that haven’t finished the series yet, but this book is epic in proportions from the losses to the incredible epilogue. I don’t usually like epilogues but this one was done in such an amazing way!

The worst ending would have to be to the end of the Harry Potter series and the reason I don’t like epilogues. The entire book was wrought with issues that would have been easily fixed with editing, but it seemed that an editor didn’t even look at the final book. Think about every single troupe that indies are accused of and then you have the 7th book in the Harry Potter series. This teaches that even if you have published with world renowned success you still need a different pair of eyes to make sure that you are putting out the best possible product. Also the ending left me feeling unfulfilled.

  1. I hated the ending of THG. I thought it was so sloppy!

  2. Ha ha ... I'm the complete opposite of your post! I really didn't like Mockingjay ... I thought it was the weakest of the three books.

  3. I'm glad to see that Mockingjay is on here. So many people were disappointed with it and I just can't understand it. Sure, I would've liked to see Katniss and Peeta growing close to one another again, but for me, all that matters is that they ended up together.

I'm curious what you think should've been edited out of Deathly Hallows. Deathly Hallows is my all-time favorite series ending. I'm totally fine with people not being happy with it, I'm just curious, you know?

  4. I felt it had a lot of plot holes, misspelled words, typos, just general things an editor would edit out. As the series went on I feel her editor just passed it through without checking it over and making sure it was the best possible product. Also the ending left me feeling unfulfilled.

  5. I've gotten so many rotten tomatoes hurled at me (prepares for more), but I heard about the ending for Mockinjay before I had time to even start Hunger Games and thought it was so awful that I haven't even started the series.  I'm such a puppet to popular opinion. lol  I do finally have it back on my TBR list since my brother and several friends have threatened me with bodily harm if I don't.

I agree with you on the last Harry Potter book.  It just felt so out of place with the rest of the series, I didn't know what happened.  A tack-on?
