In my week off I read more than I have in months. I didn’t write reviews, I didn’t think “is this book applicable to my blog?”, I simply read. I read biographies, historical romance, and a couple of paranormal books that I had been dying to read but simply hadn’t had a chance.
So to the changes.
Reviewing- I will be reading and reviewing books that I enjoy. It may not fit into YA paranormal or even adult paranormal. And it may not even be fictional.
My format for reviews will remain almost the same, but I will not always fit it into that format. If I feel like doing a bulleted list, rant, or just simple spewing I will be.
Memes- I will be alternating between WoW and Top Ten Tuesday and will be doing TGIF every week unless I have commitments to guest posts.
Basically, I’m not going to be so narrowly focused on anything.
Hopefully, you guys will not dislike my changes and it’ll be a more fun environment.
That's great! I love eclectic blogs and blogging is supposed to be fun. Can't wait to see what you start reviewing now and such. :)
ReplyDeleteI think we have to remember to keep blogging fun! I'm glad that you've found changes that will work for you.

That's great. It's hard for remember sometimes that blogging is for YOU and has to be fun for YOU. Otherwise it's just another job. Good for you!

I actually made a very similar list yesterday about blog content changes because I am currently recovering from a burnout. From the list I see I am moving from restrictive to more carefree blogging style xD. I like the changes on your list, it's not good to put restrictions on yourself if they are making things a chore instead of fun.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! You have to do what is best for you, even if others may dislike it. I'm sure we'll all love the new blog.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I can empathize; I went through that in 2010, and I'm just now getting back into book blogging. Having fun is what this is about :)
ReplyDeletewell sad to say this happens to a lot of people, including myself, where even the thought of blogging gave me a few hives, now I just blog when i need to and when I have something relevant to say otherwise i stay out of it, posting just to post doesn't help you or your followers. I'm glad you've made changes that make you happy!! Be Blessed and continued happy reading
ReplyDeleteAww! I'm just glad you're back, Rie! I can't even imagine how much stress you're going through. But I'm always here for support.
ReplyDeleteStill, I can't wait to read your new reviews. I hope you love the next couple of books you read.
-Much love
I think that's a great idea. You have to do what you like. I'm glad you found a way to make blogging and reading fun again!
ReplyDeleteYou gotta do it how you like it! Otherwise it's a chore instead of fun. It's not our rules, it's yours. It is fun to take a little time off sometimes. It gives you some perspective. You should read only the books you want. I need to do that, too. HAVE FUN BLOGGING!

You need to do whatever will make you happy. Blogging is a hobby, not a job. If something about it isn't working for you, find a way to make it work or forget it and focus on the things that do. I know I haven't been updating nearly as much as normal myself. Why? Because I am knee deep in editing mode for my book, and I am really *bad* at reading and editing at the same time. There are any number of things that can clue you in that something isn't working -- life, actual 'work', social stuff, health... You need to listen to that stuff, because if you don't it does catch up with you. (Ever had a super annoying cold at the absolute worst time ever? Yeah, *that*.) Anyway, I wish you all the best. :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I completely understand.
ReplyDeleteHaving a blogger burnout really sucks, but sometimes it's necessary to get back on track. I hope these changes will work for you (:
ReplyDeleteSounds good for me! I tried only reading books that would suit my blog and I hated it - I'd much rather make my blog applicable to my reading instead :)
ReplyDeleteI set up my blog to have fun, and if I'm not doing, there's no point.
I should say that I’m really impressed by
ReplyDeleteyour way of thinking and the ideas you’re sharing with each of your
readers.Really original way of thinking! Go on the same, way!
