I’m super excited to be participating in Jamie’s 2nd annual End of Year Survey! I saw this over at Ginger’s and was instantly in love! So here it is.1. Best book(s) read in 2011?
- Is actually a 2012 debut, Everneath by Brodi Ashton!
2. Most disappointing book/book you wish you loved more than you did?
Bumped- I wanted to love this book, but it was bad. Actually horrible. In the end I was somewhat interested but yeah the slang, the morale, the whole thing was just not for me.
Once a Witch- I was told this one would be amazing by people I trust and I’m sure for some it’s great, but for me it was a throw against the wall book. This was my first bad review I ever wrote.
3. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2011?
Tyger, Tyger- It sat on my bookcase for months because I was unsure if I would like it or not and then I fell in love! I mean this book is kinda pure awesome!
Graceling- Totalbookssed vlogger and book blogger over at Harmony’s Radiant Reads kept raving about this book and I wasn’t sure I’d be in love with it, but I totally and utterly was! It was so amazing!
4. Book you recommended to people most in 2011?
Changeling series by Dani Harper! I got super tired of the adult paranormal genre in the middle of the year, but this series is like the best adult series ever. I request the books MONTHS in advance and have had Dani over 2x this year. I love her!
5. Best series you discovered in 2011?
See above!
Guild Hunter by Nalini Singh- This series is seriously one of the best series I’ve ever read. The love and passion between these two is heartbreaking.
6. Favorite new authors you discovered in 2011?
Dani Harper, Victoria Schwab
7. Best book that was out of your comfort zone or a new genre for you?
Here Lies Bridget by - This was very close to contemporary. And it completely surprised me with it’s greatness. I figured it would be complete fluff, but it really wasn’t. It had such a strong meaning behind it.
8. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2011?
Unearthly, The Near Witch, Vespertine, Divergent, Hunger Games- I could go on forever. Books that got a 5 rating are likely books I could not put down.
9. Book you most anticipated in 2011?
I can’t really think of one I was really dying for that I’ve got to read. I’m currently dying to get a chance to read Legend by Marie Lu and Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi.
10. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2011?
So many covers were gorgeous!
11. Most memorable character in 2011?
Katniss
12. Most beautifully written book in 2011?
It would have to be a tie between The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab and Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell.
13. Book that had the greatest impact on you in 2011?
Hunger Games- I cried through a vast majority of the beginning of this book. I usually don’t cry until the end of books, but I felt an instant connection to Katniss.
Everneath- When I was reading this book I had pnuemonia. Super completely sick and this book was like perfect for that mood. I think it’s replaced Jane Eyre as my sick book.
14. Book you can't believe you waited UNTIL 2011 to read?
Hunger Games! Why did I know about this series earlier?
15. Favorite passage/quote from a book you read in 2011?
“A child is not to be blamed for the actions of evil” -Archangel’s Kiss by Nalini Singh.
16. Book you read in 2011 that you'd most likely re-read in 2012?
Hunger Games- I want to re-read them all before the movies come out.
17. Book that had a scene in it that had you reeling and dying to talk to somebody about it?
Drink Deep by Chloe Neill

Sadly, I stopped following along with most and didn’t complete my goodreads challenge.

3. One thing you hope to accomplish or do in your reading/blogging in 2012?
Be more social. I need to comment on other blogs more.

Great post Rie! Thanks for the shout out. I hope your new years celebrations rocked!
ReplyDeleteGRACELING!! ♥ Have you read Fire? I enjoyed Fire more but both are so utterly fab!
ReplyDeleteI waited until just a few months ago to read The Hunger Games too, and can't believe I waited to long. I loved Legend, that is a must read. (I listened to it on audio and it was fantastic, but I want to get a physical copy to read.) I have The Near Witch and still haven't read it yet. It's one of my top priorities. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Fire yet sadly. I'm gonna have to put it on my TBR list.
ReplyDelete12. Most beautifully written book in 2011?
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be a tie between The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab and Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell.
YES. THIS.
Also? Shatter Me is an amazing read. I really hope you enjoy it. :)
Shatter Me was awesome! I hope you like it! I also can't wait to read Legend, that and The Pledge are the two I'm dying for most right now.
