Shameless Request: If anyone has a Google + Account and would like to invite me I'd love you forever! And I'm too busy getting ready to move to worry about to many memes this week, so bear with me for the next few weeks until I get everything settled back in.

First of all if I make absolutely no sense I am sorry. We here in Texas are under a burn ban, so instead of the annual lighting of fireworks I got a bit tipsy. Yes that is a fishbowl full of alcohol ----->

Dystopia will likely be a forerunner, because I believe dystopia gives us the best rebels. Mythology is a close second.

I can’t think of 9 and 10 at the moment.

8. Johnny Tremain- He not only helped fight the for our independence, but he fought for his own survival. A rebel for the 4th. This is one of those books that transformed my life in my early teens.

7. Odysseus- He fought the gods every step of the way to get back to his wife even though he wasn’t even a demigod. Something about a mortal man taking on the gods inspires me more than any other type of book.

6. Lexi- The Near Witch- She is in a male ran world, but is consistently going out and fighting for what she thinks is right. She has true courage.

4 and 5. Scott Tracey and Malinda Lo- The Huntress and Witch Eyes- Both of these have LGBT fiction out this year, so brave in a world where a presidential candidate’s husband says that gays are, “barbarians” that need to be “disciplined.” This statement and his other ones make me see red.

3. Tris- Divergent- She went against her parents, against her faction, and against her new family to find a place that isn’t ignorant in it’s views of the world.

2. Percy Jackson- The god of gods wants his head and he defeats him at every turn. This often causes him to break rules, but at the end of the day he is a insecure teenager.

1. Katniss- Hunger Games- She’s like this awesome chick that stood up to her country and while she didn’t exactly win without major sacrifices she found a place in a country that was better than when it began.

  1. Odysseus actually wasn't quite human to be honest. He was a descendant of Hermes, which is why he was so cunning, curious, and a bit mischevious. ;) And it's also the reason Hermes helped him when he was on Circe's island. Plus, he never did lose faith in Athena, so she helped him along the way. I do agree though, he was definitely a rebel...and so was his wife. That woman was just as smart as Odysseus. To deflect her suitors she tricks them by claiming that once she finishes the piece on her loom she'll choose one of them, but each night she undoes the work that she did during the day. That woman was crafty. ;P haha

I definitely agree with Tris and Katniss too! :D I haven't read any of the other stories though, but I bet I'd agree if I had. ;)

Thanks for sharing your list. :D

  2. Firstly, this is one of my favorite comments of all time. I love that you love mythology! I'm a bit obsessed.

Hermes was sent by Zeus to help Odysseus. He wasn't a direct decedent of Hermes unlike Perseus or Hercules. Yes, Athena was always there for him due to his devotion, but he doesn't have the god talents like a demi-god. So him being a mortal was an even bigger feat than what the demi-gods accomplish.
Can't wait to read your list!

Great list.  I think you are right that Dystopia novels make for the best rebels.  I also like how yo remembered Odysseus.
