Once a month I will be hosting a new feature Little Known Blogs, in order to give the spotlight to blogs that I love that need need deserve a little more attention. In order to be considered for this feature you must have less than 200 followers and have great content. If you’d like to be considered for this feature please fill out this form.
This month’s feature:
Why did you start your blog?
I actually didn't know that there were such things as book blogs until a few months ago! It was just the coolest thing, people reading books and sharing their opinion with a bunch of people. At the time I didn't have anyone that would listen to my book talks, so finding out about book blogs was such a gift.
What is your favorite part of blogging?
Even though I've only been blogging for about 2 months, my favorite part so far is reading and following other blogs and bloggers. I really enjoy reading everyone's thoughts on the same books I've read and their book recommendations. My TBR list is starting to pile up every Wednesday now thanks bloggers.
What book is your current obsession? (The one that you're so in love with at the moment)
I am obsessed with Nightshade by Andrea Cremer! I've been trying to get my friends to read it and the end result was always a, "Why didn't you tell me about this book earlier?". I can just gush over this book for hours and wouldn't stop thinking of things to gush over. If you haven't picked this book up yet I'd highly recommend you do before the release of the sequel Wolfsbane come out.
What do you when you aren't blogging or reading?
I wish I could spend all my time reading but, I'm just in 8th grade so my life kind of bends around school work and activity. I'm apart of my 8th grade choir and Girl's Choir (Selected-Ensemble) and have been doing a lot of events lately. I'm also currently in my school's Track & Field team. I participate in the 4x100m, 4x400m, 800m, as well as javelin. Some non-school related stuff I do is play the guitar and attempt to bake cupcakes.
Any posts you'd like to give more attention to?
During the month of April, Cassandra Clare and Holly Black had a tour stop in Oregon and I was there. Here's my post about my little adventure at my first author event.

Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers.
But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
My Opinion:
Nightshade caught my attention because of the beautiful cover. I didn't even bother to read the back or anything, so I trusted my gut and checked it out. Thank goodness I did! Nightshade was not a paranormal romance that was 90% romance and 10% paranormal. It was a perfect blend of both. Since the first page I couldn't find a stopping point. There was never a dull moment in this unpredictable plot. Andrea left me guessing page after page.
When I finally read the description, I kind of had an image of Calla being a weak character that doesn't know how to stand up for herself. I was way off! Even though I didn't like her as much, I started liking Calla when she said, "Finesse, my ass. I'm a warrior not your child bride." She's sarcastic with the funniest come backs. Although she has this tough-girl image there is a big heart under that. There's so much love and respect that she shows towards her pack and brother. Calla is a total warrior and a strong alpha.
There is plenty of action in this book but there is also that nice touch of romance. The alpha that is Calla's future mate is Ren. My first impression of Ren was that he's vain. From page after page, he begins to show that he can also be sweet and caring. Even though there were some of those moments, I'm still unsure of what I think about him. Shay on the other hand was a bit iffy to me. He's someone I'd want to be friends with, but at the same time I don't feel like I know enough about him to be his friend. I'm not talking about his history or anything I'm talking personality wise. All I can think to say about Shay right now is that he's charming and loyal. There isn't a guy that strikes me as THE GUY, but I'm kind of leaning towards Ren. Now I can't wait for the sequel, Wolfsbane which will be released July 26, 2011.
In the begining I was intriged by the cover and never payed much thought to it later. This week during Cover Crazy with my librarian, she pointed out that the flowers on the cover are called calla lilies. Calla = her name and lily = Ren's nickname for her. I thought that was a nice detail.
If you're looking for a great paranormal read, I'd highly recommend Nightshade.

ReplyDeleteCool feature! And great interview on both sides. I also loved Nightshade and I can't believe Vy is only in 8th grade! Wow.
ReplyDeleteOh yay! I love Vy's blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were only in 8th grade! I figured High school, at least. I'm not sure why though. LOL
I loved your review! I think your description of Ren was perfect. He grew on me. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next!
